Project Description:
Barrick Gold Corporation awarded Lycopodium the feasibility study for the Buzwagi Gold Project, located in central Tanzania some 100km south of Lake Victoria.
Scope of Work:
Lycopodium was initially engaged to undertake the feasibility study. Lycopodium was subsequently awarded he EPCM contract for the Buzwagi Gold Project processing plant and infrastructure. The process plant will initially treat gold bearing oxide ore through a standard CIL process with gravity concentration, then primary sulphide gold and copper bearing ore with the addition of a flotation / filtration circuit producing both gold doré and a copper / gold concentrate.
Key features are:
• Crushing, grinding and ICMC complaint CIL processing plant with a capacity of 4.5Mtpa;
• Parallel copper flotation, thickening and filtration circuit;
• Workshops, stores, laboratory and plant administration and emergency response center;
• Mine service area including heavy vehicle workshop and core shed;
• The water harvesting system and associated below ground water storage pond with cover to enable operation through the dry seasons;
• Fuel storage;
• Tailings storage facility;
• 105km long, 220kV power line; and
• Accommodation village for 300 workers.
